About

ABOUT

Born in Oakland, CA, Regina Morones is a Bay Area based actor-singer-educator, a member of the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival’s Resident Artist Company and a company member at Ubuntu Theater Project. She began her career in theatre with the Oakland Ensemble Theatre's Youth Theatre Arts Professional Program (YTAPP) under the direction of Helena-Joyce Wright.  YTAPP gave her the opportunity to do community outreach by touring their original work Poison Places to schools in the Bay Area and overseas in Denmark for the Danish Ministry of Education.

Regina went on to pursue a B.A. in Theatre Arts at Clark Atlanta University and an M.F.A in Acting from the University of Iowa. Her training at CAU and UIOWA not only challenged her to make truthful and honest connections on stage, but also left her feeling empowered and inspired. UIOWA's annual New Play Festival and the countless collaboration opportunities with M.F.A playwrights and directors ignited her love for new works. Since graduating from UIOWA in 2015, Regina has worked on various new plays in the Bay Area such as By Blood  (Playwrights Center of San Francisco), Palace Wreckers (Central Works Theater), White Iris (Short Lived New Play Festival), Strange Ladies (Central Works Theater), Love Sick, A New Musical (Jewish Circle Theater), and The Princes: Thanatos & Hypnos (The SF Olympians Festival).

After graduating from UIOWA in 2015, Regina returned to the Bay Area for the summer tour of Romeo & Juliet at the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, and to her excitement she was invited to join the Resident Artist Company soon after. As a SF Shakes Resident Artist she has taught, directed, and been a camp manager for the Bay Area Shakespeare Camps and the Saturday Upstart Crow Program. Regina has also toured various schools in Alameda and Marin Counties as an Actor-Educator with the New Conservatory Theatre Center's YouthAware program in 2016. In 2017 Regina became a company member at UBUNTU Theater Project as part of a collective of artist committed to creating captivating works that expose the human condition and unite diverse audiences through revelatory, heart-wrenching theater. Her passion is to continue to create and be a part of theatre that uplifts the marginalized by planting seeds of hope, acceptance, and change to promote healing and unity in the Bay Area.
